Event #8 was to give someone a job/career I hate. So I gave the newly YA’d Brenna a career in Business, as that’s one I rarely play.
One of the first things she does as a young adult is head off to see the sites in the big city of San Myshuno.
She also drops in on her brother.
Things are going well for Brenna. She has a job that pays decently. She is a part of a local singles group. They go out dancing, meeting people, having a good time.
She is, however, so wrapped up in her new life outside the confines of school, that she doesn’t see what’s going on around her.
Her mother is getting older and the lingering cancer which has always plagued her is slowly gaining ground. Allie is more and more tired, weak and often unable to do the most basic of things.
She does enjoy seeing her daughter happy, so she says nothing. Just smiles as Brenna asks if she can invite her singles group over for an evening of movies and popcorn.

Yes, Allie finally succumbs both to age and her cancer. Brenna’s guests are shocked and mostly unsure of what to say or do. One of them calls an ambulance, but it’s too late.
For several days following the funeral, Brenna is on auto-pilot. Go to work, come home, prepare for work again, sleep.
The routine repeats and repeats until she realizes one day that she is … alone. The house is really kind of empty. Her father, whose spirit has walked among them for years since his untimely death, is gone!
She frantically searches for him and finally locates a message It explains that he, too, is tired of this life. He had only returned to be with his Allie and now, they can be together in the afterlife. He is leaving to join her. He knows that she will be alright. She has her aunts, cousins, and brother. And soon, she will find the man who makes her happy, like Allie made him happy.
