Delusions

Dear Mom and Dad,

I do NOT like this trip anymore.  The food services stink, the beds are uncomfortable, there is no a/c and I think the sun is starting to get to me.  Like, for real.

I keep having the vivid dreams, in which I am tossed about in a little boat and wind up on an island, of all places, except it looks more China in some of the dreams.

I meet a girl there.  A really sweet girl with long black hair.  She says she is ‘Some young Kim’ and I have to wonder if there are more Kim’s on this island or more young ones anyway.  I thought it was just me and I don’t remember on the cruise.

We spend the day playing games together, she and I, tossing around the most refreshing water balloons you’ve ever seen.

I’ll admit, she has a strong arm for a figment of my imagination and I wind up on the floor more often than not.

Then the day changes to night and we sit for hours watching the stars and talking about life.  I tell her about our home and how wonder it is, how, I wish she could come and see it with me.  Live with us, forever.

And then I reach into my pocket, and pull out the engagement right I was going to give to… oh, what was that girl’s name?  The blonde with the big… well, it doesn’t matter, does it, because I can’t remember how to get home.  Why won’t you come for me, Mom?  Dad?

This particular young Kim though is thrilled with my ring, and she puts it on her finger and hugs me tight.  It all feels so real for a dream.

I think you would like her, too.  If only we could all meet again.

Although… who knows… maybe in my next dream, she will be a Debra or Susie, and not some young Kim.

Sincerely yours, and Still wishing for a way home,

Biron (your son, remember me?)

(please remember me)

(please)

Simmer’s Notes:  yes, Biron finally got enough money to go to China.  He was there for 3 days, did a couple of adventures, and hit it off with a girl named Sun Young Kim.  Sadly for our poor, addle-brained Biron, he thinks she’s a dream.  He’s not even writing that letter on real paper, just rambling it off to the boat on the way back from China.  Poor guy.  I wonder how long it will take him to realize she’s real.  And now his wife.
