Drifter Challenge – House 3, Ch. 3

Even when I’m alone, I cannot stop thinking about Aleah. She fills all of my thoughts.

We spend so much time together now, that it’s not funny. When I am done fishing for the day, I invite her over and we spend hours just laying in the grass and talking about life… late into the night, even.

I quickly learned that Aleah and I have a lot in common. She is from a Magic family, but doesn’t use it herself. She knows the spells, but chooses to live like a normal person. She has a job, though I can’t figure out what it is, and she loves spending time with me.

She has given me a lot of input on starting the build of my new house, and then drags me off to do things I’ve never done before, like roller skating. (She was taking this picture, btw, and laughing her butt off because I kept falling!)

Speaking of falling… I know that I am falling in love with Aleah Collette.

I invite her to go with me on a camping trip. I haven’t been back to Granite Falls since the ill-fated vacation where the log I was sitting on caught on fire but despite that, I have always enjoyed camping. And Granite Falls is where my love of fishing began. Aleah accepted my invitation and we packed up and just left. Got off the grid for a little while to commune with nature and with each other.

In a peaceful moment around the bonfire, I asked her if she would consider moving in with me. I was so afraid that she would say no… so afraid that I had misinterpreted what was growing between us and that somehow, she would reject me.

Given how things wound up with Violet, this wasn’t too far of a stretch in my mind.

Aleah, however, just laughed when I confessed my concerns. (And have I mentioned how much I love her laugh?)

“Caden,” she told me… “I would love you, too! Of course, I will move in with you!”

We embraced, and kissed, and… well… after that things got a whole lot more interesting.
