Newcrest 1.3

So… this is York Square, the loveliest house in Newcrest’s new low-income subhood.  It’s so named because, well, it’s basically a square and the Yorks have moved in.

The first thing the family does after moving in is celebrate Aaron’s elder birthday.

How are you feeling, Aaron?

“Tired.  Everything aches all the time.  Why did no one tell me growing old was like this?”

If we told people how it really was then no one would want to do it.

“Probs not.”

And the new house it to your liking?

“It’s comfortable.  Which is good.  Booth says he and Kiersten want a big family.”

You don’t seem pleased.  Why is that?

“Kids aren’t really my thing.”

Which is why Aaron and Jade only had the one kid.  Aaron really isn’t a big-happy-family person.  But the lack of siblings has made Booth yearn for just that – a big happy family.

“And it’s only a 3-bedroom house, so all those people are going to have to bunk up.”

Yes, I suppose so.

So… where are you off to today?

“Taking a walk.  Thought I’d check in on the old homestead.”

You mean Rusty’s Renaissance Park?

“Yeah…. don’t tell anyone, but I kind of miss the old guy.”

Don’t worry, Aaron.  You’re secret is safe with me.

It looks like everything is in order here.  It’s lovely, Aaron.  🙂

“Thank you!  I … learned a lot about myself from doing this.”

What’s that?

“That I’m capable of so much more than taking the easy way out.  And that creating something is better than tearing down.”

Are you just saying that because you don’t want anyone to know that you funded most the park by money you stole from major corporations through their computers?

“I wouldn’t say that… exactly.”

I’m not sure I believe you, BUT, now it’s time to pass the torch onto your son, Booth.
